Relocating to Collin County

Plan Your Move.
Settle Into Your First Month

Start with a move date, the places you travel, and the kind of home you need. Coordinate the housing decision, transaction, and move-in logistics around those priorities.

Before the Search

Coordinate the Timeline

Bring financing, any sale elsewhere, touring, inspection, closing, and move-in dates into one plan. Allow for the actual requirements of the property and transaction.

After the Move

Records & Services

Keep closing, inspection, warranty, and HOA records together. Confirm utilities, internet, insurance, maintenance contacts, and mail forwarding with the relevant providers.

Texas License or ID Address Change

If you already hold a Texas driver license or ID card, DPS says to update its address within 30 days after moving to your new residence. DPS address-change instructions.

Moving from Another State

DPS says a new Texas resident with a valid, unexpired license from another U.S. state, U.S. territory, Canadian province or qualifying country may drive on it for up to 90 days after moving. Check your transfer and eligibility requirements with DPS; this is different from updating an existing Texas license’s address. DPS new-resident guide.

Keep Public Records Current

Review address changes for voter registration and transportation accounts where applicable. Confirm requirements directly with Collin County Elections and NTTA.
